Do you ever wonder why there is so much depression, frustration, unhappy people? Well I do. Let me try to explain. People who are depressed in this world of the evil one, look for answers. Why do I hurt the ones I love? Why do people think that I am mean, when I am really try to be nice, but I have a long history of being abused, ridiculed, I was a "lousy" student, I cannot write a paper. I try, but I constantly fail, society has failed me, I have failed family, where do I go?
Secular society, and I imagine 75% of pastors tell you to see a psychologist, a therapist, take Effexor, Prozac, Zoloft, Buspar, Ativan, that will help you be a nice person. Yes, take drugs, be better, that is what they tell you. But, it was the booze, cigarettes, pot, four-way-windowpane, speed, qualudes, heroin that helped make you feel happy in the past, no change, just different, "acceptable" drugs. Then they let you hang out to dry. A lot of folks do not want to be bothered by you and your problems, no your SIN, they do not want to forgive you, you are anathema to society, you are the dregs of society, even though you have a 9-5.
Then you meet a therapist who shows a way to help with your frustration, anxiety, abusiveness, he shows you a simple exercise to relax, MEDITATE. Wow, is it the Middle Ages, again? But it sort of works. However, their is still something missing. What is missing? There has to be more, please God, where do I go?
It is an easy fix, meditation, yes, but more. You need to meditate on something besides yourself, besides looking at streams with a tree that drop leaves to the water and you "allow" the leaf carry your thoughts away, down the steam. This is helpful, but you need more, you need God, not some generic god of society; money, power, materialism, these are but false gods. Moreover, you do not need the god of self-help, prosperity good news, or good works. You do not need the false god of Mohammed, Joseph Smith, or modern Judaism. There is only one who can help, the One True God, the Father, the Son ✠, and Holy Spirit. But where is He?
There is only one place to find Him and do not look to your heart, for we all know what lurks in your heart. Okay, so go to church you say, but one hour a week is not enough time to meditate. But unfortunately, unless you are fortunate enough to have a church nearby that has more than one service, you will not get enough meditation on the Word, the missing item from the therapist.
Demand that your pastor give you more, more Jesus. Daily services for the lost who need to hear and meditate on the Word. Pastors that IS your VOCATION. Not sport, not golf, not meetings, BUT giving the GOODS, giving the people Christ. The people, all people need to hear Christ on a daily basis with the community of believers.
Pastors do you really care about your people? Most say they do, but not really, todays pastors think Sunday is enough, the laity can fend for themselves the rest of the week. They have their devotions. My God, don't you realize that Satan works overtime tearing apart society, the church, the family. Sorry, but our society, your laity need more, the folks need to hear it from you, as you pray Matins, Evening Prayer, Compline. It does not take all that long you lazy, good for nothings, I should quote Luther here, but you get my drift.
Pastors, do not be relevant to this culture that the evil one owns, pray with your people, pray the ancient and the truly relevant Word of God. Use the Liturgy that has been handed down for thousands of years. It is what WE ALL NEED. Pastors you need this also. Especially, if you think you are busy, then you need to spend more time in the Word with the sheep that the Father has given to you to shepherd. You know it only comes one way, not from within, but through the gift that Jesus Christ won for everyone, from the lowest Lazarus to the most esteemed Nicodemus and all of the un-named. And it is the Holy Spirit who points us to the Good News, the Gospel, the εὐαγγέλιον, the Evangel, which comes through the Service that God has given to us.
Back to the beginning, if you suffer from the vagaries of this world, a tormented soul, hatred of yourself, depression, narcissism, egotism, having too much, having nothing, God truly has a place for you, the Church. You can meditate with God and His people, the sinners of this world. Come, you are forgiven, now hear and learn what Jesus does for you.
I would like to thank Pastor Will Weedon and Issues, etc. for the inspiration.
May God bless all of you, my fellow sinners, redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb.
